Quilters have a language all their own and everything seems to have an acronym; from the occasional FART to the everyday WHIMM. Below is a partial list of Quilters Acronyms that will tickle your funny bone!

BOB - Block on Board
BOM - Block Of the Month
COC - Cream on Cream
DSM - Domestic Sewing Machine (home sewing machine, not longarm)
DWR - Double Wedding Ring (quilt pattern)
EQ - Electric Quilt (a software package for designing quilts)
FART - Fabric Acquisition Road Trip
FIUP - Finish It UP
FMQ - Free Motion Quilting
FOB - Fear of Binding
FQ - Fat Quarter
GFG - Grandmother's Flower Garden
HIPS - Hundreds of Ideas Piling Skyward

HSY - Haven’t Started Yet
HTH - Hope That Helps
IMHO - In My Humble Opinion
IMO - In My Opinion
LAQ - Long Arm Quilter
LOL - Lots Of Laughter / Laugh Out Loud
LQS - Local Quilt Shop
MAM - Mile-A-Minute (a modern version of crazy quilt block)
MQS - Mid-arm Quilter
PhD - Projects half Done
PIGS - Projects In Grocery Sacks
QST - Quarter Square Triangle
SABLE - Stash Accumulation Beyond Life Expectancy
SBS - Sunbonnet Sue
SEX - Stash Enhancing eXperience
SITD - Stitch in the Ditch 
STASH - Special Treasure, All Secretly Hidden
SUI - Shopping under the influence (usually of a friend) 
TBQ - To be Quilted 
TGIF - Thank God It’s Finished
UFO - UnFinished Object
WAYWO - What are you working on? 
WHIMM - Works Hidden In My Mind
WIP - Work In Progress
WISP - Work in Slow Progress
WOF - Width of Fabric 
WOMBAT - Waste Of Material, Batting And Time
WOW - White on White
WST - Wrong Sides Together
